Video & Photo & Sound, Oh My!

Oh, how I love to just kick it up a notch and add a little flare to a blog post. You’ll be seeing a lot of these throughout this year as I’ve decided that it’s time to spice things up a little bit, both on the website side of things and on the blog here.

As some of you know, and many of you don’t know, I’ve been into video and video editing LONG before I put my hands on a camera of any kind. And while I enjoy viewing other photogs blogs and their photographs, it does get a little boring at times to see picture after picture after picture. Don’t get me wrong – photography is a passion of mine and I love to be inspired and learn from others. However, video is where it’s at now-a-days and I’m always thrilled to see other photographers who realize this and have jumped on the opportunity to add that extra pizazz in their videos/slideshows/etc. I know I myself am always striving to learn more with the various software programs that I utilize and it’s nice to see others doing the same.

Keep up the great work fellow photogs! More of this is coming your way!

The Essentials: Gatlinburg, TN & Family Time

As much as I love photography and video, I also love hanging out with my family – especially with my wife and my kids.   And when extended family gets together and cousins can hang out and play together – man, there’s just something magical about that.   Those moments, in my opinion, are valuable essentials and memories that families will treasure for years.

When I photograph families during the summer (especially when they come together for reunions),  I think back as I’m going through the images that evening after the session and usually say, “Wow …”   I say that not because the images are outstanding (that’s a given since I took them … LOL) – but I admire families that put “family” first and make it a priority to get together and make those memories that everyone will look back on for a long time.   It’s a time where families can put differences aside and enjoy everyone as well as get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I’ve had a chance to experience this again this past weekend in Gatlinburg and can say, as always when we get together, that we’ve all had an absolute blast.   Sure my in-laws drive me crazy at times (and I know it’s goes both ways as well) – but in the end, we’ve both had a great time and I’m looking forward to the smile on everyone’s faces when the DVD is completed.

DVD?   Yes, although I didn’t shoot a whole lot of pictures – my focus this time around was on video – and I can’t wait to throw this footage back on my workstation and put together a DVD of this weekend’s trip.   (You honestly didn’t think I wasn’t going to bring some kind of device that took pictures or video? LOL …)  I’ll have a highlight reel online very shortly (ahh yeah – the nerd in me is starting to ooze out again).  Hahaha

So, with that said, I encourage you to make time for the essentials this year!   Grab that camera and video and capture those memories baby!   Woo Hoo!

Piper Family | Family Photographer Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, Orlando

Meet the Piper family! They took advantage of the holiday special during the month of December and have over 100 images (full high resolution) to utilize for printing, collages, etc. Many families jumped on the specials that I had during the holiday season and many used them during December, while others are using them for later in the year. In addition, the DaddyMac is also friends with the Pipers, so we had a great time together, got some great photographs, and I had a blast with their family — I mean, hey, when you’re with James – it’s a great time no matter what! Lol …

Enjoy some sample pictures below! More will be added in just a bit!

Piper family, thank you for a great time and I hope you enjoyed your pictures! I look forward to working with you guys again in the future!:-)

A Winter Wonderland – For This Family Anyway | Family Portraits On Location

Ahh, the beauty of family portraits – and the beauty of taking them in the cold winter months here in Florida. (Yeah right).    I think I was actually starting to break a sweat a little bit during this shoot as it was so muggy at the time.

Nonetheless, I had a great time with this family, whom I’ve had the privilege to work with in the past both here and here.  We had a great time capturing some memories of the family as a whole and their little one (who by the way is running at about 100mph right now).  LOL.  He was a lot of fun and I even had him take a couple of pictures of Mommy all by himself.

These are just a handful of the many that were taken that day – the gardens were a little bit overcast for this afternoon so most of these were shot using a 47″ octobox.  I love that thing!  Speedlights are nice, but they can’t touch a soft box when you’re on location and in need of some beautiful lighting.  And those who know me – what’s my catch phrase?!  IT’S ALL ABOUT THE LIGHTING BABY!  Woo Hoo!!

Enjoy!
